ROBIN
HOOD
Once upon a time in
Old
England, when kings and bandits roamed the land,
a brave little
boy called
Robin
Hood lived in the green forest of
Sherwood.
With his friends, little
Robin loved to play super
fun games in the forest all day.
His friend
Little
John was good at running quick.
His friend
Maid
Marion was good at doing tricks.
But
Robin was best at shooting his bow.
It was big and had some bright red arrows.
Can you hit this?
Little
John said,
as he put an apple on top of his head.
No problem, said
Robin with a smart little grin.
And he fired the arrow with a great loud
PING!
WHIST!
The arrow shot through the air.
WHACK!
The apple fell off of
John's hair.
His friends all cheered, and
Marion did say,
There's an arrow shoot
ing contest today!
Little
John said they should go.
All right, said
Robin, and picked up his bow.
Outside the forest, they found the contest,
in a field of tents and flags with crests.
When they got there,
they felt a bit scared.
Tall knights and princes were
everywhere.
Oh no!
It's the
Sheriff!
Robin
Hood groaned.
Cripes!
Little
John and
Marion moaned.
The
Sheriff of
Nottingham was
standing right there.
He was big and ugly with
greasy grey hair.
The
Sheriff was not a very nice man
and catching
Robin had long been his plan.
But the shooting contest was about to start,
so
Robin decided he couldn't lose heart.
The sheriff, he snarled at them nastily,
Robin
Hood, you can't beat me!
His arrows were blue and sharp as a knife.
He had the biggest bow
Robin had seen in his life.
Robin
Hood laughed and picked up his bow.
At the target he aimed his first arrow.
His arrow flew and
Robin's friends giggled.
PING!
It hit the target right in the middle.
The
Sheriff of
Nottingham growled and he scowled.
That trophy's mine. I'll win it right now.
He walked up to the target
with a smirk and a hiss.
He stood so close that he
couldn't miss.
Thunk!
At the target the
sheriff he shot.
What a cheat!
A fair shot it was not.
Marion had a thought and
giggled with glee.
Little
John, she whispered,
make a noise like a bee.
The sheriff he sneered,
I told you I'll win.
He strung his blue arrow ready with a grin and
walked close again for the last round.
But then he heard a buzz,
buzzing sound.
It's a swarm of bees! yelled
Marian with glee.
Grrrrrrr! yelled the sheriff.
I hate bees!
He turned and his arrow
missed the shot.
Did the sheriff hit the target?
No, he did not.
Now
Robin quickly picked up his bow.
Ready, he aimed his last arrow.
His first shot was good,
but this was even better.
PING!
It hit the target right in the centre.
Robin was the winner,
as everyone could see.
So he won the gleaming
gold trophy.
The three friends did high fives,
and they danced.
An d back to the forest,
they mer rily pranced.
